After a 30 year hands-on inspection career, Greg has retired from active inspecting in metro Atlanta. He continues to focus his attention for detail on "Mission Control," and the management of Building Knowledge, Georgia's oldest and most respected multi-inspector firm, with exceptional communication, rigorous inspector standards/training, high tech automation, and stellar customer service. Greg continues to perform inspections in North Central Georgia, along with a team of "cabin oriented" inspectors. In the 1990's, Greg served on ASHI's National Board of Directors, and as President of the SE Chapter. He is the father of two grown daughters, and grandfather of two. He and his wife, Dana, reside in Blue Ridge, GA, and Hernando, FL, with their two Jack Russell mixed canines, where they also build, own and manage vacation rental cabins, Toccoa House Properties.

A Senior Inspector with Building Knowledge, Roland has been providing residential and commercial inspections in the Atlanta-Metro area for more than a decade. His goal is to empower property buyers by imparting his knowledge and expertise in buildings and systems. In addition to being a Certified Member of the American Society of Home Inspectors, Roland has extensive experience as a designer, new home builder and renovator. He is also certified through Pro Lab as a mold inspector and is qualified to provide a range of environmental testing, including radon gas, lead, and asbestos. Originally from the Big Sky Country of Montana, Roland enjoys backpacking, fishing, and cycling, as well as campfires with good friends and family.

Duane is a Senior inspector, an ASHI Certified member, and has been performing inspections with Building Knowledge since 2011. He is an EPA Certified Lead Renovator as well as preserving/inspecting homes for over 30 years. Duane is also knowledgeable at performing various types of environmental testing, including asbestos, lead, and mold. He and his wife Carol enjoy exploring nature and historic sites on their tandem mountain bike.

Mark has been around the field of building inspection his entire life as his grandfather was chief inspector in Kansas City, and his father is an engineer. Mark joined Building Knowledge in 2012, and possesses excellent familiarity with building methods, structures, and systems, and quickly attained the rank of Senior Inspector with our firm. Mark also has a bachelor of science degree in Information Technology, and is a Certified Thermographer (Infrared Camera specialist). Mark and his wife have two adult children and reside in Tucker. When not inspecting homes, Mark enjoys spending his free time working with metal and wood.

Harry joined Building Knowledge as a Senior Inspector after an extensive career in the field of commercial construction. A former project manager for the premier firm of Pinkerton and Laws, he has expertise overseeing high dollar projects and understands the level of attention needed when the stakes are high. In addition to providing both residential and commercial inspection services, Harry also serves as Environmental Testing Coordinator for Building Knowledge and brings a long history of successful business experience to our firm. Notice: Due to a hip condition, Harry is not able to inspect properties with a crawl space or where climbing a ladder is required.

David is a Senior Inspector with Building Knowledge who brings his experience as a premier Atlanta homebuilder for the past 35 years. His experience provides a unique advantage as a home inspector because he is knowledgeable about every step of the construction process, and can quickly identify any pertinent issues, as well as provide remodeling advice. David is also particularly adept at performing "pre-drywall" inspections, and structural evaluations. David is licensed as a residential builder with the state of Georgia. David is married and has four children, including twin daughters adopted from China. David is a hobbyist woodworker and built the baby cribs for his twin daughters. He also enjoys hiking and camping.

A Nationally Certified Home Inspector, Emily also holds an M.A. in American studies and historic preservation. She has worked with the Smithsonian Institution, the National Park Services, as well as nonprofits and private firms to evaluate, document, and manage historic structures and artifacts. She comes to Building Knowledge most recently from her position overseeing the restoration and management of historic sites in Maryland State Parks. Qualified to provide both residential inspections and historic preservation services, she is also certified as a Lead Dust Sampling Technician by the National Center for Healthy Housing. Thrilled to return to her native Atlanta, Emily enjoys sharing the nearby mountains with her husband and son.

Adam is a Nationally Certified Home Inspector and Journeyman Carpenter with more than a decade of high-end residential renovation and remodeling experience. To obtain his Journeyman Carpenter status, Adam completed over 6000 hands-on hours in residential construction and more than 400 hours of classroom instruction, culminating in testing and certification. His remodeling background also includes experience in construction project management and significant time as a cabinetry design and construction Apprentice. Beyond his expertise in residential construction, Adam brings an additional decade of corporate business experience, including Senior Management level, to the firm. He holds a Bachelor's degree from the University of Alabama. Adam lives in Sandy Springs with his wife and 2 children.

As the son of a furniture carpenter and homebuilder, Jack has been immersed in construction for most of his life. Shortly after graduating from Georgia College and State University, he began his career in the homebuilding industry, going to work for a reputable building company in the North Atlanta area. Jack has held the titles of Finishing Manager, Product Quality Control Inspector, Customer Service Representative and Land Acquisition and Development Assistant during his professional career, exposing him to many aspects of the building process. Jack joined the Building Knowledge USA team in January of 2016 for the opportunity to use his experience to assist seasoned and first-time homebuyers to be properly informed when making their home purchase. When Jack is not inspecting homes or continuing his education in construction, he can be found on Lake Hartwell with a fishing rod in hand.

Steve took a decade off from full-time remodeling when he joined the founding management team of America's largest home improvement retailer. In his early 40's he "retired" from the retail side of home improvement and has since focused his attention on his real estate investment and renovation projects, utilizing both his knowledge of building materials, systems and full inspection skills. Steve is also co-author of our environmental testing services web and Facebook page, and helps manage our auxiliary services. He enjoys woodworking, gardening, playing guitar and is a Dad of three and grandfather of two.
Austin "Hunter" Burchardt

Austin Hunter Burchardt joined Building Knowledge after working in commercial construction. He comes to Building Knowledge most recently from his position field coordinating the restoration and repair of Post Offices throughout the southeast. Austin served as Project Manager and Superintendent on Postal projects ranging from historic restorations to new construction. Austin also holds a M.S. from North Georgia University along with several technical degrees from Georgia Piedmont Technical College. When Austin is not inspecting homes or continuing his education, he enjoys riding motorcycles and spending time outdoors with his family.

Daniel grew up in the in the building industry with a contractor for a father. He spent summers pouring foundations, driveways, and working on other aspects of construction with his father’s company. He has used his experience by volunteering with organizations such as Habitat for Humanity and Appalachia Service Project. From pouring foundations in South Georgia, to installing roofs in West Virginia, he has been exposed to many aspects of home building and restoration. He was even a part of reconstruction along the coast of Mississippi after Hurricane Katrina. Daniel studied business management and accounting at Virginia Tech and Georgia College. He also spent two years interning on sustainable farms all around America. Daniel has joined Building Knowledge so he can help clients make an informed decision about their home purchase. Outside of work, Daniel enjoys exercising, hiking, and camping.

Tony is a certified home inspector through the American Home Inspectors Training Institute and a Certified Professional Inspector with the International Association of Certified Home Inspectors. While growing up he’s had his hands in just about everything from working in electric, roof repairs, landscaping, and pool decks to updating his family rentals. Tony is a graduate of the University of Central Florida, which lead him to the corporate world before turning his attention back to his real passion for housing. In his off time, Tony, his wife and daughter enjoy the outdoors, pool time, traveling, music and food festivals, and time at the beach.

Lewis Starr grew up in a construction family, with his father a major Atlanta HVAC contractor, and older brother a principal for one of the largest apartment development companies in the Southeast. As a result, Lewis became knowledgeable and proficient in all phases of construction and building inspection. Lewis attended the University of Georgia, and is a skilled communicator and photographer, and enjoys backpacking throughout the southeast, along with most other outdoor activities.
Dana serves as Legal and Financial Manager, with responsibility for processing all receivables, payables, and business management. She is also a licensed Realtor, with previous experience as a Para Legal and Accountant.
Automation and Social
Born in Marietta, GA, Ray graduated from Reinhardt University in 2012 with a degree in Communications, with a focus on Writing for the Media. Shortly after graduating, he accepted a role as Director of Marketing in Charleston, SC at an upstart SEO firm, where he developed content marketing campaigns and managed social media accounts for business owners in a wide variety of industries. Since moving back to the Peach State, Ray has found success as a Social Media Manager and Freelance Writer in the North Georgia Mountains.
